The Rjiksmuseum published two books celebrating his work titled Dick Bruna: Artist and Dick Bruna: See More. During a career spanning 60 years, Dick Bruna gained international acclaim. He retired in 2011. Dick Bruna passed away on 16 February 2017 at the age of 89.
