Brooklyn-based artist Fabienne Lasserre (born 1973) describes her practice as "a stubborn action on materials"—creating freestanding objects made of clay, hand-dyed fabric, paper and metal that hover between painting and sculpture. For Lasserre, abstraction is a means to privilege lived and felt experience, implying powerful and fertile political metaphors. Entre chien et loup (a French expression for twilight), speaks to the way Lasserre's work defies easy categorization.
