The Architectural Detail gives an overview of architectural detailing from a galaxy of prominent contemporary Dutch architectural firms. Exploring the relationship between detail and wider context, what is underlined here is not the purely functional aspect of detail (such as wind- or water-proofing), but its potential as the designer’s conceptual signature--detail in which the larger intent can be read. This thesis is illustrated through texts, drawings and photographs.
