Federico Díaz & E Area: Resonance Visualactivism, Installation, Architecture Published by Charta. Text by Kamil Nábelek, Alanna Heiss, Karel Srp, Thomas M. Messer, Robert T. Buck. Czech-Argentine artist and activist Federico Díaz and his team, E Area, have been working together for more than 15 years, producing radical artistic, social and architectural interventions that broaden and transcend current perceptions of art, space and culture. For example, in December 2008, Díaz and E Area created an architectural installation for P.S. 1’s annual radio broadcast, Art Radio International, at Art Basel Miami Beach. According to the fair, this immersive futuristic environment, featuring surround-sound audio, video projections, mood lighting and live radio broadcasts, provided “the ultimate artworld beach lounge.” Copublished by Charta and P.S.1 with the collaboration of Galerie Zden¡ek Sklená¡r, this volume features a thermo-color cover that reacts to temperature, changing color according to heat and light conditions or the human touch. Presenting projects and installations alongside texts by Czech curator and art historian Kamil Nábelek, this volume also includes texts by P.S.1 Director Alanna Heiss, former Brooklyn Museum Director and art historian Robert T. Buck, Czech former Guggenheim Museum Director Thomas M. Messer, Czech art historian Karel Srp and others.
