Le Corbusier & Pierre Jeanneret: Chandigarh, India

Pierre Jeanneret's 1955-56 office chair is reproduced from Le Corbusier & Pierre Jeanneret: Chandigarh, India, a featured title in our pop up bookstore, ARTBOOK @ SWISS INSTITUTE, curated through November to support and enhance Fin de Siècle, architect Andreas Angelidakis' Ionesco-inspired exhibition of modern and contemporary chair design. "For Le Corbusier planning a new city meant a global approach, so the need to design the furniture for Chandigarh's public buildings was self-evident. The modernity, purity and consistency of the whole had to be perceptible. For this enormous project, he called in his cousin Pierre Jeanneret, who shared his convictions and had his full confidence."
