Vincent Desailly's photographs document everyday scenes in Atlanta's trap culture

Featured image is reproduced from The Trap, French photographer Vincent Desailly's new monograph documenting the culture around Atlanta's homegrown hip-hop sub-genre, trap. Desailly doesn't glamorize or editorialize. His photographs capture musicians, strip clubs, dealers, guns, drugs, home interiors, outdoor spaces and ordinary people just hanging out. "When I think about trap I think about something raw," "Trap God" Gucci Mane is quoted in the book's introduction. "Something that hasn't been diluted. Something with no polish on it. Music that sounds as grimy as the world that it came out of." Includes vellum pages printed with maps of the Atlanta neighborhoods where Desailly made the work.
