South as a State of Mind: Documenta 14 #2 Spring/Summer 2016 Published by Walther König, Köln. Edited by Quinn Latimer, Adam Szymczyk. Text by Naman Ahuja, Andreas Angelidakis, et al. In 2017, for the first time in its history, Documenta will be held in two locations: Athens, Greece, and Kassel, Germany, the latter the exhibition’s home since 1955. Prior to the exhibition, South as a State of Mind will publish four special Documenta 14 editions. While the first volume examined displacement, dispossession and the modes of resistance found within them, the second volume explores the more enigmatic theme of silence and masks. Contributions by Naman Ahuja, Andreas Angelidakis, María Magdalena Campos-Pons, Barbara Casavecchia, Mariana Castillo Deball, Clémentine Deliss, Mahasweta Devi, Stathis Gourgouris, Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak and others focus on sound and gender, provenance and repatriation, silencing dissent, artistic refusal and orality, and masking identity.
