David Goldes: Electricities, up against the limits of the medium

"Snake in the Garden #4" is reproduced from David Goldes: Electricities, the first major monograph on the Minneapolis-based multimedia artist. "You seem to be interested in things that can be demonstrated and recorded photographically, but you're also keen to bring the viewer up short, up against the limits of the medium," David Campany comments in a published interview with the artist. The success of much of the work "hinges on the certainties that are lost when three dimensions are translated into two. Solids into planes. Binocular eyesight into monocular depiction."
