| 07/24/2007 Gerd Hatje Publisher Gerd Hatje Dies Publisher Gerd Hatje died at the age of ninety-two on Tuesday, July 24, 2007, in Stuttgart. He was one of the most influential personalities in the art and publishing scene of postwar Germany. A passionate art connoisseur, Hatje’s enthusiasm and openness toward new developments in the fine arts and music never abated, nor did his lifelong love of bookmaking. In 1945 Gerd Hatje founded the company which eventually became one of the most important international publishers of art, photography, and architecture books. | |
