Chipstone Foundation

The Chipstone Foundation is a collection of early American furniture, British pottery, and American historical prints and maps. It is housed primarily in a colonial revival brick home on Lake Michigan, Wisconsin, which was built to hold the collection. Through a partnership with the Milwaukee Art Museum, many of the foundation’s furniture and ceramics are now on public view. The Chipstone Foundation's publications include important annual journals in the fields of furniture and ceramics studies, and a small number of major theoretical and collecting monographs. These works reflect the foundation’s desire to enliven and enrich the level of scholarly discourse in the decorative arts world.
