Published by Walther König, Köln. Edited by Emiliano Battista, Daan van Golden. Text by Emiliano Battista.
Although better known for his painting, Dutch artist Daan van Golden (born 1936) is also a skilled photographer. This book gathers his photography, reproducing the photo pages of his earlier books, as well as two little-known photo essays, in their entirety.
Inspired by the Florentine sidewalk artists decked out in period costume and mimicking Dante and Leonardo, lauded Dutch painter Daan van Golden, whose career honors stretch from Documenta 4 in 1968 to the Venice Biennale in 1999 to the Heineken Prize for Art in 2004, captured them on video, stills from which are collected here.
