Alfred Jensen: Concordance

Published by Dia Art Foundation.
Edited by Karen Kelley. Foreword by Michael Govan. Essays by David Anfam, Lynne Cooke and Michael Newman.

In an imaginative merging of abstraction and personalized iconography, Alfred Jensen's bright paintings elaborate his comsological speculations, drawing on astronomy, physics and mathematics, and frequently implicating Mayan and Chinese calendrical systems. Included in Concordance are large-scale multi-faceted paintings that span the artistís mature career from 1960 onwards. Concordance includes many rarely seen works from the artist's estate as well as a late 12-panel work, "The Great Pyramid," executed in 1979 and never before published.
