Henley has spent much of the past two decades in Asia, concentrating on the economic and social changes that have been sweeping through the continent and beyond. In China [sur]real he portrays the people and processes of Zhongguo, the "Middle Kingdom," in the midst of its greatest transition. Henley captures the country's common humanity, but does not omit the odd edges that make China both part of our world and a world apart.
